Significance
Great Mosque of Sousse was constructed in 9th century. It was renovated and extended in 10th and 17th centuries. It is located adjacent to Ribat, therefore it is surrounded with a crenallated wall which is flanked by two towers. It has a rectangular plan with a spacious courtyard in the middle. The prayer hall is covered with two domes.
