Significance
Located in Al Zarib Valley, about 10 kilometres east of Al Wajh city, this Ottoman castle was constructed in 1096 AH (1685 AD). Al Zarib Castle was built of the limestone available at the site of the castle near the sea coast. Though it looks square shaped, it is in fact rectangular: its eastern and western sides are 55 meters long, while north and south it extends 51 meters. It has four corners
and in each is a tower. The entrance is located in the western corner and leads through to a vestibule in the central courtyard which is surrounded by rooms and architectural units, and has a mosque within.
