Significance
Al Fateh mosque which can hold up to 7000 prayers is one of the largest mosques in the world. The total area is about 15 hectares and the mosque occupies 6500 square meters. The mosque which is also known as the Grand Mosque was built between 1983 – 1988. The mosque is also known as an Islamic Center. A library of Islamic literature and students dormitory are included in the complex. The dome of the mosque which is the worlds’s largest in the world is made of 60-ton fiberglass to make the interior cooler. It has a diameter of 25 meters.
