Significance
Al Wajh Castle was built before 1039 AH (1629 AD). Texts stipulate that there was an extensive restoration of the castle in 1115 AH (1730 AD). As for the exact date of its construction, historical sources are vague. It was most likely established in the year 968 AH (1561 AD). One of the most prominent castles on the route to Hajj from Syria and Egypt, it was used both to protect and offer rest to convoys of pilgrims.
