Significance
The Ferhadija mosque was built at a time when Ottoman architecture in Istanbul was reaching its peak (1560-70) so that it reflects the full richness of the style of building typical of such edificies in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Ferhadija Mosque is one of the most important historical and cultural monuments in Bosnia and Herzegovina from the Ottoman period.

State of Preservation
During the clashes in 1993, the Mosque was severely damaged and the Mosque stones are thrown into the Vrbas River. The area of the Mosque remained neglected and suffered serious damage. The reconstruction activities, which started in 2007, but due to financial insufficiency stopped in 2014. In 2014, after TİKA’s support restarted the interrupted efforts, the construction of this Mosque was finished in 2016. At the moment, this Mosque is open to worship and is in good condition.
