Significance
The mosque was the first mosque of the reign of Safavid which was used by Shah Tahmasb-e Safavi. That is why it is also known as Shah Tahmasb Mosque.

State of Preservation
The mosque’s dome, minarets, interior walls, mirror works, inscriptions and the paintings of the mihrab were carefully restored in 1990s.
Its last restoration was during the years 1994-1998.
